Google/SAP Diversity Awards

Technology companies face a problem of diversity and they try to address it through various means, including encouraging students to embrace technologies, no matter their background. Yet, this problem of diversity starts very early and also exist in academia. We thus decided, with the support of Google and SAP in Montréal, to promote and celebrate diversity. Minority students, in particular female students, can apply for a Google/SAP Diversity Award to receive a free registration to SANER'15 and be invited to a visit to SAP Montreal Labs.

Applicants must prepare an application and upload it by February 10th, 2015 to https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sanerfsf2015. Applications should include the following information:

  • Provide your name and contact information.
  • Describe your role in the conference. Please specifically mention whether you have a paper accepted in the main conference or a workshop, and whether you will be the presenter for any paper.
  • Tell us which university you are studying at and the name of your advisor.
  • Explain which phase of your research you are in (i.e. first year PhD student, final year PhD student, MS student, Undergraduate student)
  • Explain why attending SANER will be of interest to you and how it might be relevant to your ongoing research agenda.
  • Explain, if any, what other funding sources are potentially available to you.

Applicants should also ask their advisors to write a supporting letter and email it directly to Dr. Jane Cleland-Huang at jhuang@cs.depaul.edu with the subject line of “SANER Google/SAP Support”.

All applications must be received by February 10th, 2015. Notifications will be sent by Friday 13th.
